Professional Experience
Alexander B. Cvercko graduated in 1996 from Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, suma cum laude. He went on to obtain his Juris Doctorate at Florida State University in 1999, cum laude. Mr. Cvercko was admitted into the Florida Bar in 1999. He is admitted into the United States Federal Courts, Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida. He founded Cvercko & Associates, P.A. in 2008.
While attending Georgia Institute of Technology, Mr. Cvercko worked in a co-op in various fields of construction. This gave him real life experience which has helped him navigate the highly technical field of construction litigation. He has been an attorney in private practice for 24 years and has extensive experience in complex civil litigation, construction litigation, real estate law, and personal injury litigation.
Personal Experience
Mr. Cvercko was born and raised in Ormond Beach, Florida. He played many sports growing up. He competed in the state competition in wrestling for Seabreeze High School his senior year. Mr. Cvercko is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing, golfing, and spending time with his wife and two sons.
Professional Experience
- Past clients include property owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, material suppliers, and surveyors in construction claims, bond claims, contract review, contract litigation, professional negligence, lien foreclosure, and personal injury defense including wrongful death.
- Developed workout strategy and defended partnership litigation against general partner, owner. and developer with claims in excess of $15 million including personal injury guaranties and over $50 million in real estate, achieving favorable settlements.
- Defended developer in $7 million arbitration by equity partners.
- Defended developer and contractor in condominium association claim.
- Developed and managed a high profile news release concerning environmental contaminated dirt removed from a development site used as fill at a middle school and residential house.
- Managed the design and implementation of a $4 million plus dirt remediation project and coordination of a $2 million infrastructure project for a housing authority.
- Represented an engineer in a $28 million construction claim.
- Represented the architect in a $20 million apartment water intrusion claim resulting from stucco deficiencies.
- Represented contractor in water intrusion arbitration in 12 apartment complexes resulting from failure of stucco, flashing, windows installation and other alleged defects.
- Represented a surveyor in a wrongful death claim settling the claim against the surveyor for less than 1% of the total settlement.
- Represented homeowner against a custom homebuilder in a balcony leak case successfully resolving the claim.
- Represented homeowner against a national homebuilder in a stucco failure case successfully resolving the claim.
- Successfully represented an injured party against their uninsured motorist carrier obtaining settlement of policy limits of $100,000.
- Successfully represented an injured person against his underinsured motorist carrier obtaining a settlement of $55,000.
- Successfully represented a bicyclist severly injured, including traumatic brain inury, with over $600,000 in medical bills in a motro vehicle accident obtaining an agreeable settlement.
- Represented a temporary labor provider in a construction lien claim in the amount of approximately $1,000,000 obtaining a favorable settlement.
